The Toronto Maple Leafs and goaltender Artur Akhtyamov have reached a three-year, $2.7 million contract extension, it was announced Sunday.
The contract is a two-way contract for the 2026-27 season, followed by a one-way deal in the 2027-28 and 2028-29 campaigns.

The 24-year-old has appeared in one game with the Leafs this season on Dec. 12 against the Edmonton Oilers. He stopped all five shots he faced in relief of Dennis Hildeby.
He’s played in 32 games this season for the AHL’s Toronto Marlies, going 18-10-4 with a 2.86 goals-against average and a .904 save percentage.
The 24-year-old Russian was selected in the fourth round (No. 106 overall) by Toronto in the 2020 NHL Draft.
