Toronto Maple Leafs star forward William Nylander did not participate in practice on Friday after he was forced out of their game on Thursday early with an injury.

Maple Leafs head coach Craig Berube said on Friday that Nylander is still being evaluated and that the team does not yet know whether it will be a long-term or short-term injury. “Right now I can’t answer that,” Berube said, per Jonas Siegel of The Athletic. “With the last one I thought it would be quicker and then obviously (it) wasn’t. We’ll just see how he feels here going forward.”

Berube also said that Nylander is doubtful for the team’s game against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday.

Nylander exited the contest during the first period and was ruled out by the team at the beginning of the second frame.

“He’s back playing great and now he’s out again,” Berube said after the 6-5 overtime loss. “We’ll see how long.”

Per Siegel, Nylander was pulled from Thursday’s game with a lower-body injury, and it is the same injury that kept him out of the lineup for six games earlier in the season form the end of December to the beginning of January.

Nylander recorded an assist and a goal in just over two minutes of ice time against Vegas. The 29-year-old has 17 goals and 31 assists in 37 games this season for the Maple Leafs.
