The Nashville Predators announced on Friday that Rob Blake has been hired as the executive vice president of hockey operations.
He will work alongside president and general manager Chris MacFarland, who was hired on Wednesday after 11 seasons with the Colorado Avalanche.
Blake mostly recently served as president and GM of the Los Angeles Kings from 2017-18 through the 2024-25 campaign. After the Kings lost in the first round for the fourth straight year to the Edmonton Oilers in 2025, Blake and the Kings mutually parted ways.
He also helped the Kings win the Stanley Cup in 2014 as assistant general manager.
“My family and I are very excited to join the Predators franchise and would like to thank Chris MacFarland for his trust in me,” Blake said. “This is an organization with a great history and a very bright future, and I am thrilled to be a part of it. I am grateful to work with Chris, who is one of the best general managers in today’s game, and build something special here in Nashville.”
As a player, Blake skated in 1,270 NHL games for the Kings, Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. He won the Norris Trophy in 1998 and a Stanley Cup title with Colorado in 2001. Blake was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2014.
