New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes is expected to be available for Team USA at the Winter Olympics, Michael Russo of The Athletic reports.
Hughes has been sidelined for the past week with a lower-body injury and has been ruled out for the Devils’ final game before the Olympic break on Thursday.
“Jack is just not improved enough to the point that our medical team will let him out there,” Devils coach Sheldon Keefe said Wednesday. “He’s not going to be available [Thursday]. They say he’s in the day-to-day category, and we don’t have a lot of days left here.”

Thursday will mark the third straight game Hughes has missed for the Devils entering the break.
The 24-year-old centre has 12 goals and 36 points in 36 games this season.
Hughes will be joined by his older brother, Minnesota Wild star Quinn Hughes, on Team USA at Milano Cortina 2026.
The Americans have had to replace one member of their roster already in Florida Panther defenceman Seth Jones, with Anaheim Ducks blueliner Jackson LaCombe getting the call in his place.
The United States will play their first game of the Olympic tournament next Thursday against Latvia and Russo reports Hughes is expected to be available for that game or soon after.
