The Buffalo Sabres announced an extension for Louis Crevier on Thursday.
Acquired in the summer from the Chicago Blackhawks, the 25-year-old defenceman has inked a four-year, $16 million deal with his new club.
A native of Quebec City, Crevier was dealt to the Sabres as part of the trade that sent Bowen Byram to Chicago.
“My first impression was his puck movement was good,” Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said of what he’s seen from Crevier through preseason. “He’s defended well. So, I think playing with either one of those guys is a good fit.”
Originally taken with the 188th selection of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, Crevier made his NHL debut in 2023 and has appeared in 134 contests across three seasons. In 2025-2026, Crevier skated in 78 games, scoring seven goals and adding 18 assists across 17:08 of ice time a night. For his career, Crevier has 32 points.
The Sabres open up their 2026-2027 campaign on Thursday night with a visit to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
