The Ottawa Senators acquired goaltender Jonas Johansson in a trade with the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for future considerations, it was announced on Friday.
Johansson, 31, appeared in 25 games (23 starts) last season with the Lightning, where he held an .884 save percentage and a 3.29 goals-against average.
Johansson spent the past three seasons with the Lightning, and has also made stops with the Colorado Avalanche, Florida Panthers and Buffalo Sabres over his seven-year NHL career.
This move comes one day after the Senators cut ties with Leevi Merilainen, who landed in Vancouver with the Canucks after the Senators placed their long-time backup on waivers.
In 105 career NHL games, Johansson has a 3.30 GAA and an .888 save percentage.
The Senators open their regular season on Oct. 3 against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
