Senators sign G Merilainen to one-year, $1.1M contract

The Ottawa Senators have signed goaltender Leevi Merilainen to a one-year, one-way contract extension worth $1.1 million for the 2026-27 season.

Merilainen split the 2025-26 season between Ottawa and AHL Belleville. With Ottawa, he went 8-10-1 in 20 appearances with an .860 save percentage and 3.51 goals-against average.

In 19 games with Belleville, he recorded a .909 save percentage and 2.77 GAA and went 8-8-1.

A third-round pick (71st overall) by the Senators in the 2020 NHL Draft, Merilainen earned silver for Finland at the 2022 World Juniors.
