The Detroit Red Wings have acquired veteran forward David Perron from the Ottawa Senators in exchange for a conditional draft pick.
The 37-year-old Perron has scored 10 goals and 15 assists over 49 games with the Sens in 2025-26, his 19th season in the NHL.

Perron hasn’t played since Jan. 20 after suffering an injury which required sports hernia surgery. He was expected to miss 5-7 weeks at the time of the injury.
If Perron is able to play in a game during the remainder of the regular season or in the playoffs, the Red Wings will give the Senators a 2026 fourth-round draft pick.
If Detroit is able to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and Perron plays in at least 50 per cent of their first round games, the Red Wings will instead deliver a 2026 third-round selection to the Senators.
The Canadian has recorded 329 goals and 480 assists over 1,223 career games with the St. Louis Blues, Edmonton Oilers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, Vegas Golden Knights, Red Wings and Senators.
Detroit currently sits third in the Atlantic Division with a 33-18-9 record through 60 games.
Earlier on Thursday, the Senators acquired forward Warren Foegele from the Los Angeles Kings for a 2026 second-round draft pick.
