Defenceman Artem Zub is unlikely to be ready for the start of the regular season, head coach Travis Green told reporters Wednesday afternoon via Postmedia’s Bruce Garrioch.
Green said Zub still has a lingering knee injury from their playoff series against the Carolina Hurricanes this past spring.
TSN’s Claire Hanna initially reported last week that Zub would miss time to begin camp.
The 30-year-old blueliner is entering his seventh season with the Sens and tallied five goals and 25 points while averaging 20:48 of ice time per game in 81 outings last year during the regular season. He played in one playoff game in the series against the Hurricanes as the Sens were bounced in in a sweep.
Zub has 24 goals and 90 assists for 114 points in 387 career regular season NHL games.
Ottawa will open their 2026-27 season Saturday, Oct. 3 on the road against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
