Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen is expected to miss some time after sustaining an injury at Milano Cortina 2026, head coach Glen Gulutzan said Monday.
Gulutzan expects Rantanen to miss Stars’ first game back after the NHL’s Olympic hiatus on Wednesday at home against the Seattle Kraken and could also miss Saturday’s game against the Nashville Predators.
Rantanen was sustained a lower-body injury during third period of Finland’s 3-2 loss to Canada in the semifinal on Friday.
He was not available to the team on Saturday as Finland went on to defeat Slovakia 6-1 to claim bronze.
Gulutzan says Mikko Rantanen will be going to the doctor today, but he expects Dallas will “miss him for a little bit here.”

Adds, “I wouldn’t expect him, certainly for the first game, or maybe in the first two.” But didn’t want to speculate beyond this week.
Rantanen finished the Olympic tournament with two goals and six points in five games.
The 6-foot-4 winger has leads the Stars with 20 goals and 69 points in 54 games this season.
Dallas sits in third place in the Central Division with a 34-14-9 record, one point behind the Minnesota Wild and six points behind the Colorado Avalanche.
