The draft pick becomes a fifth-round selection in this summer’s draft if Minnesota wins two playoff rounds and Petry plays in 50 per cent or more of the Wild’s playoff games during those first two rounds, the Wild said.
The 38-year-old blueliner has eight assists and zero goals in 58 games so far this season for Florida. He joined the team on a one-year, $775,000 contract during the summer.
He is a veteran of 16 NHL seasons split between the Montreal Canadiens, Edmonton Oilers, Detroit Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins and Panthers.
