Ritchie brothers make history

The trade of Nick Ritchie for Brett Ritchie made history.

The Arizona Coyotes confirm that the trade was the first in NHL history in which a brother was traded for a brother.

It's also the first trade of brothers since the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Pau Gasol from the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008 with Marc Gasol going in the other direction.

Kings, Blackhawks get one in under the wire

The Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks have completed a late deal.

The Kings have traded forward Austin Wagner to Chicago in exchange for future considerations.

Rangers make pair of late moves

The New York Rangers got two deals done under the wire.

The team announced the acquisition of forward Anton Blidh from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Gustav Rydahl and the addition of defenceman Wyatt Kalynuk from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for future considerations.

No 'firm offer' for JVR

For a while it appeared James van Riemsdyk was set for the Detroit Red Wings, but a trade never came to fruition.

Now Philadelphia Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher says there was no firm offer from anybody for the veteran winger.

Fletcher says there was talk with one team about a trade concept, but it was conditional on the other team making a different move that didn't end up happening.

Leafs can activate Murray, have room for Knies

With the Toronto Maple Leafs not making any roster additions on Friday, the team has left themselves with enough cap space to activate Matt Murray and sign top prospect Matthew Knies to an entry-level deal upon the conclusion of the NCAA season, Chris Johnston notes.

Murray, 28, has been on injured reserve since Feb. 9 with an ankle injury.

Knies, 20, was a second-round pick in 2021.

He has 20 goals and 17 assists in 30 games for Minnesota this season and is a leading contender for the Hobey Baker.

The return for Klingberg

Joe Smith from The Athletic has what the Anaheim Ducks are getting from the Minnesota Wild for John Klingberg.

The Ducks will acquire a fourth-round pick in 2025, Andrej Sustr and the rights to Boston College's Nikita Nesterenko.

The Ducks will also eat half of Klingberg's remaining salary.

Flames acquire Stecher and swap Ritchie brothers

The Calgary Flames got another late deal done.

The team has acquired Troy Stecher and Nick Ritchie from the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for Connor Mackey and Brett Ritchie.

Wild land Klingberg from Ducks

It appeared that the only reason the Anaheim Ducks signed John Klingberg last summer was to flip him at the deadline and that day has come.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports the veteran defenceman has been traded to the Minnesota Wild.

In his ninth season, Klingberg has eight goals and 16 assists in 50 games this season.

Preds extend Fabbro

The Nashville Predators have given Dante Fabbro an extension

After some talk that the 24-year-old defenceman could be moved ahead of the deadline, they've instead signed him to a one-year, $2.5 million extension.

Habs keep Edmundson

Joel Edmundson is not headed to a new team

The Montreal Canadiens have not traded the highly sought-after defenceman.

Chris Johnston notes the Habs are done for the day and did not make any other moves.

JVR not dealt

James van Riemsdyk will remain a member of the Philadelphia Flyers after the deadline.

The 33-year-old van Riemsdyk is an unrestricted free agent at season's end.

Senators acquire Brown from Flyers

The Ottawa Senators have acquired centre Patrick Brown from the Philadelphia Flyers.

Brown, 30, has two goals and five assists in 43 games this season.

JVR appears set for Red Wings - UPDATE: No, he does not

James van Riemsdyk is not headed to the Detroit Red Wings after all.

After appearing set for the Detroit Red Wings, the veteran forward will not be headed to the Motor City.

Flames acquire Hunt from Leafs

As Salim Valji noted earlier, the Calgary Flames were the only team not to make a trade this season. Well, that just changed.

The team has acquired forward Dryden Hunt from the Toronto Maple Leafs for forward Radim Zohorna.

Hunt, 27, will join his fourth team this season, having also previously played for the New York Rangers and Colorado Avalanche.

He's appeared in 37 NHL games this season.

The 26-year-old Zohorna has 33 NHL games under his belt, including eight this season.

Sabres, Ducks swap rearguards

The Buffalo Sabres have made a second trade in quick succession.

The team has sent defenceman Chase Priskie to the Anaheim Ducks for blueliner Austin Strand.

Sundqvist primed for Wild

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger confirms the report from The Athletic's Shayna Goldman that centre Oskar Sundqvist is heading from the Detroit Red Wings to the Minnesota Wild.

Sundqvist, 28, has seven goals and 14 assists in 52 games this season.

Oilers appear to be finished

The Edmonton Oilers don't appear to be primed for a late deal.

TSN's Ryan Rishaug says the belief is that the team has already finished their business.

Caps re-up Aube-Kubel

A waiver claim from the Toronto Maple Leafs earlier this season, the Washington Capitals have extended forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel to a one-year, $1.225 million extension.

Aube-Kubel, a Stanley Cup winner last season with the Colorado Avalanche, has two goals and six assists in 30 games this season.

Sabres acquire Greenway

The Buffalo Sabres have acquired winger Jordan Greenway from the Minnesota Wild.

Greenway, 26, has two goals and seven points in 45 games this season and is signed through the 2024-25 season.

Thursday's waived players clear

Nobody was claimed on waivers on Friday.

Jean-Francois Berube and Evan Fitzpatrick of the Florida Panthers cleared waivers, as did the San Jose Sharks' Derrick Pouliot.

Habs brokering Bonino deal, pick up fifth and Tony Sund

As other teams have done in the days leading up to today's deadline, the Montreal Canadiens are brokering a trade to add an asset.

By retaining salary in the Nick Bonino trade between the San Jose Sharks and Pittsburgh Penguins, the Habs will receive a fifth-round pick and the rights to defenceman Tony Sund.

The 27-year-old Sund currently plays in the Swedish Hockey League for Rogle BK.

Will the Flames make a move?

There's just over 90 minutes until the deadline and one team has been particularly quiet.

As Salim Valji notes, the Flames are the only team in the NHL to not have made an in-season trade during the current campaign.

Will that change soon?

Kulikov headed for Steel City in exchange for McGinn

Dmitry Kulikov appears primed for a move back to the Metropolitan Division.

The Anaheim Ducks are finalizing a deal to send the 32-year-old veteran defenceman to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a pick and a player, reports TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun.

Brock McGinn appears to be the player heading back to the Ducks. McGinn has a $2.75 million cap hit for next season. He cleared waivers earlier this week.

Habs, Kings swing minor deal

The Montreal Canadiens have acquired defenceman Frederic Allard from the Los Angeles Kings.

Forward Nate Scnharr heads the other way.

Namestnikov jetting to Jets

Vladimir Namestnikov is heading to an eighth NHL team.

The 30-year-old centre has been dealt from the San Jose Sharks to the Winnipeg Jets for a fourth-round pick in 2025.

The Zhukovsky, Russia native was traded to the Sharks earlier this week from the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Namestnikov had six goals and nine assists in 57 games for the Bolts this season.

He's previously suited up for the New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, Ottawa Senators, Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars.

TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger notes this likely takes Winnipeg out of the mix for James van Riemsdyk.

Lazar kept his 'phone on loud'

For a third time at a trade deadline, Curtis Lazar was traded on Friday.

The newest member of the New Jersey Devils joined the TradeCentre panel.

Lemieux moves to Philadelphia

Impending free agent Brendan Lemieux has been dealt to the Philadelphia Flyers along with a fifth-round pick in 2024, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.

Heading back to the Los Angeles Kings is Zack McEwan.

Could Miller still move?

While it might be unlikely, JT Miller's name is still being bandied about.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie suggested on the TradeCentre broadcast that the Pittsburgh Penguins remain interested in the 29-year-old forward, but as Farhan Lalji notes it appears any talk remains at an early stage.

Miller's seven-year, $56 million extension kicks in next season.

Lazar heads to New Jersey

We've got a trade.

The New Jersey Devils have acquired Curtis Lazar from the Vancouver Canucks for a fourth-round pick in 2024.

Lazar, 28, is in his 10th season. He was activated off of injured reserve on Thursday.

The Salmon Arm, BC native has three goals and two assists in 45 games this season.

Will the Sens make another big splash?

With Jakob Chychrun already in the fold and a playoff spot the goal, will the Ottawa Senators look to make another big move?

Puljujarvi still in Edmonton

Jesse Puljujarvi is still in Edmonton and practicing in Oilers gear after his trade earlier this week to the Carolina Hurricanes.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun notes that Puljujarvi is dealing will visa issues and hopes to join the Canes in Montreal on Tuesday.

Flyers set price for JVR

The Philadelphia Flyers know what they're looking for in a return for James van Riemsdyk.

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports the team is seeking a third-round pick in return for the veteran winger with the Vegas Golden Knights, Winnipeg Jets and Seattle Kraken among those interested.

Johnston notes that the Calgary Flames had also inquired into JVR's availability, but seem to no longer be intent to buy.

An impending free agent, the 33-year-old van Riemsdyk has nine goals and 14 assists in 41 games this season.

Bonino back to Penguins

Nick Bonino is returning to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

The San Jose Sharks are trading the veteran centre to Pittsburgh for fifth- and seventh-round picks, TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports.

LeBrun adds the Sharks flipped the fifth-round pick they acquired to a third team to broker the deal.

Bonino, 34. was apart of the Penguins' back-to-back Stanley Cup champion teams in 2016 and 2017.  He has 10 goals and 19 points in 59 games this season,

A pending unrestricted free agent, Bonino carries a cap hit of $2.05 million this season.

Blues land Vrana

The Detroit Red Wings have traded winger Jakub Vrana to the St. Louis Blues for a 2025 seventh-round pick and centre Dylan McLaughlin.

Vrana has one goal and two points in five games this season with the Red Wings. He spent time away from the team earlier this season in the NHL/NHLPA Players' Assistance Program. He also has six goals and 11 points at the AHL level with the Grand Rapids Griffins.

The Red Wings retained 50 per cent of Vrana's $5.25 million cap hit through next season.

Wild not ready to move Greenway

Teams are calling the Minnesota Wild on forward Jordan Greenway, but TSN Hockey Insider Darren Dreger reports the return is not where it needs to be for the Wild to move him.

Greenway, 26, has two goals and seven points in 45 games this season. He is signed through the 2024-25 season.

Chychrun fine after injury scare

Playing for the first time since Feb. 10, Jakob Chychrun had a brief injury scare Thursday in his Ottawa Senators debut.

Senators general manager Pierre Dorion confirmed Chychrun is healthy and will be in the lineup for Ottawa against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.

Who's left to move?

There's been no shortage of trades over the last few weeks. With TradeCentre finally here, it's time for a look at who's still available ahead of the deadline:

Talbot staying put?

The Ottawa Senators moved into the buyers market this week with the Jakob Chychrun and it doesn't appear they'll move back into selling territory now.

Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports it "would take an offer the club can't refuse to move" to trade goaltender Cam Talbot or winger Austin Watson. Both players are pending unrestricted free agents.

Dorion working the phones

TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reported Thursday that Ottawa Senators general manager Pierre Dorion would like to make more moves ahead of the deadline after adding Jakob Chychrun.

Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports Dorion was up early Friday working the phones again. He notes the Senators may be looking to add depth before the deadline.

The Senators, who have won four straight, are four points back of the New York Islanders for the final wild-card spot with three games in hand. The Buffalo Sabres are between the two teams, tied with the Senators at 66 points with one less game played.

Trade Bait update

Max Domi was the latest player to exit the Trade Bait board, setting up a new list just in time for deadline day.

Philadelphia Flyers pending UFA James van Riesmdyk continues to sit No. 1, followed by Brock Boeser and Joel Edmundson.

Canucks forward Conor Garland and Anaheim Ducks defenceman Dmitry Kulikov round out the top five.

Sens not done dealing?

The Senators kept their win streak going Thursday, defeating the New York Rangers as Jakob Chychrun made his debut for Ottawa.

As the team continues to chase a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston reports general manager Pierre Dorion would like to make more moves ahead of the deadline.

"Another team that still would like to be active, believe it or not, is the Ottawa Senators," Johnston said on Insider Trading. "They made a big deal getting Jakob Chychrun on Wednesday. As of Thursday [general manager] Pierre Dorian is still said to be working the phones. He hasn’t necessarily locked in on one priority, I think he wants to survey what’s left.

"We know it’s not a lot left out there to get but in the past we know that Dorian has been looking for another centre for his team. He’s also told his players that he’s going to try to add and give them the best chance to play meaningful games into March and he’s in that position now."

Could Edmundson be dealt?

Montreal Canadiens defenceman Joel Edmundson returned to the team's lineup Thursday for the first time since Jan. 26.

It remains to be seen whether that will be his final game with the team.

TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun reports there is interest in Edmundson, with the Calgary Flames among the potential suitors

"He’s a player who may not get traded but he is still on the market. There are a couple of teams interested, I’m told, in Edmundson, who has another year on his contract. To some teams that can be scary because of some of the injuries he’s coming back from. He’s expected to play tonight in Los Angeles, although he’s a game-time decision. To some teams that’s a value because they don’t want to spend on a rental. I will tell you this, there is one team that told me: “We need to see him play tonight.”

"One of the teams that, we believe, has talked to Montreal is the Calgary Flames. One of the things about the Flames is that they are in such a tough spot right now with where they are in the standings.. But in terms of Joel Edmundson, he would fit their needs because he’s not a rental. The Flames are not in a position where they can spend big for a short-term solution."

Edmundson logged 16:24 of ice time of 19 shifts and took a minor penalty against the Los Angeles Kinsg Thursday. The 29-year-old, who's signed through next season at a $3.5 million cap hit, has one goal and six points in 40 games this season.

Domi dealt last night 

The deadline deals continued Thursday night as the Dallas Stars acquired Max Domi and goaltender Dylan Wells from the Chicago Blackhawks for veteran goaltender Anton Khudobin and a 2025 second-round pick.

Domi had a team-best 18 goals and 31 assists in 60 games with Chicago. The 28-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent, carrying a $3 million cap hit this season.

Khudobin, a pending unrestricted free agent, has played only at the AHL level this season.
