Canada dominates the Philippines at FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament

GUADALAJARA — The Canadian senior women’s basketball team crushed the Philippines 85-38 on Wednesday at the FIBA Olympic Pre-Qualifying Tournament.

Yvonne Ejim scored 19 points for Canada and Syla Swords added 15.

Canada stormed out to a 23-4 lead at Arena Astros and led 46-11 at halftime.

The eight-team qualifier continues through Sunday.

The Canadians, who opened the tournament with a 72-57 victory over Senegal on Monday, will play host Mexico on Thursday.

The tournament champion will earn a berth in one of the FIBA Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournaments in February 2028.
