Charge can advance to PWHL Walter Cup Final with Game 4 win over Fleet on TSN

Published:

After qualifying for the PWHL playoffs on the last day of the season, the Ottawa Charge are now just one win away from punching a ticket to the PWHL Walter Cup Final for the second straight season.

Ottawa leads the Boston Fleet 2-1 in their semifinal series and can advance with a Game 4 victory on home ice at the Canadian Tire Centre on Sunday afternoon in the nation’s capital.

Watch the action LIVE on TSN1, TSN.ca and the TSN App at 3pm ET/12pm PT.

The Charge dropped the opening game of the series, but have answered with two straight wins, including a 2-1 victory on Friday in Game 3.

Defender Ronja Savolainen scored her second of the series with just 29 seconds left in regulation to get the victory at home.

American goaltender Gwyneth Philips has been the difference for the Charge so far in the playoffs as the 25-year-old has stopped 92 of 96 shots, allowing only four goals over three games.

Her 1.34 goals-against average leads all goalies in the PWHL playoffs.

Philips has been getting a heavy workload as Ottawa has been outshot by Boston in each contest, including 37-22 in Game 3.

This isn’t the first time Philips has dominated in the playoffs as she won the Ilana Kloss Playoff Most Valuable Player last spring despite Ottawa losing to the Minnesota Frost in the final in four games.

Philips helped the United States capture gold at Milano Cortina 2026 in February.

The Charge shut out the Toronto Sceptres in the final game of the season to clinch a playoff spot.

In the other semifinal series, the Montreal Victoire and two-time defending champion Frost will play a do-or-die Game 5 on Monday in Laval.
