Victoire place captain Poulin on LTIR

Published:

The Montreal Victoire placed captain Marie-Philip Poulin on long-term injured reserve on Tuesday with a lower-body injury.

She is expected to miss at least the next four games and is eligible to come off LTIR on Apr. 5.

Poulin was injured on Mar. 15 in a 4-3 overtime loss to the Boston Fleet. After scoring the opening goal on the power play, Poulin exited the game after taking a hit, appearing to be favouring her right knee, the same one she injured at the Olympics.

She didn’t come out for the second period before she was ruled out officially for the remainder of the game. Poulin missed the Victoire’s last two contests.

Poulin was injured at Milano Cortina 2026 in a preliminary-round game after taking a hit along the boards from Czechia’s Kristyna Kaltounkova. It caused her to miss the remainder of that game as well as the rest of the preliminary round. She returned for Canada in the quarter-finals against Germany and led the team to the gold-medal game before falling in overtime to the United States.

Poulin missed Montreal’s first game back after the Olympics with the injury.

The 34-year-old has nine goals and 17 points in 18 games with Montreal.

In other roster news, the Victoire signed Italian defender Nadia Mattivi to a standard player agreement on Tuesday.

Mattivi, 25, captained Team Italy at Milano Cortina 2026, recording two assists in five games.

She is coming off her second season with Lulea in the SDHL, where she scored five goals with 18 assists in 22 games.

Mattivi was named SDHL Defender of the Year in 2024-25 and previously played five seasons in the NCAA with the Boston University Terriers.

The Victoire are back in action Wednesday night against the Minnesota Frost.
