Canada and the United States are set to renew their rivalry this fall.
Canada Soccer announced a friendly against the USMNT on Tuesday, set for Oct. 6 at Allianz Field in St. Paul, MN, home of Minnesota United.
The match will be their first meeting since the third-place match at the 2024-2025 CONCACAF Nations League in March of 2025. Canada won the match by the score of 2-1 in Los Angeles.
“The rivalry with the United States brings out the best in this group,” Canada manager Jesse Marsch said in a statement. “We’ve had success in our last two meetings with them, and that only raises the standard for what we expect from ourselves. It’s another meaningful test as we build toward what’s next for this team.”
October’s game will be the 43rd meeting between the two sides with the first coming all the way back in 1925. Canada has won the last two matches, but the USMNT holds the historical edge. The United States in 20-11-14 against Canada all-time.
Canada returns to action for the first time after last month’s co-hosted World Cup with a pair of games at home ahead of the USMNT date. On Sept, 26, the CanMNT welcomes Chile to Toronto’s BMO Field. The following week, Canada entertains Peru at Stade Saputo in Montreal on Oct. 3.
