Canada’s men’s national soccer team will host a pair of friendlies during FIFA’s September-October international window against Chile and Peru, Canada Soccer announced on Wednesday.
Canada will face Chile at BMO Field in Toronto on Sept. 26, before taking on Peru at Stade Saputo in Montreal on Oct. 3.
“The momentum we’ve created for this sport in the country over the past few months has been incredible,” Canada head coach Jesse Marsch said in a release. “We couldn’t have done it without our fans, and these matches are a chance to say thank you and continue to build on what we achieved at the World Cup. We hope to see Canadians celebrate this team with a hero’s welcome and show up in numbers this fall.”
Canada’s men’s team returns to action after a historic run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which the country hosted alongside Mexico and the United States of America.
The first men’s FIFA World Cup game on Canadian soil was held at BMO Field on June 12 with the hosts earning their first point in the history of the competition in a 1-1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina thanks to a 78th minute goal by Cyle Larin.
With one result already in the bag, Canada routed Qatar 6-0 at BC Place on June 18, with Jonathan David’s hat-trick performance helping lead them to their first men’s FIFA World Cup victory.
Canada’s men’s team then went through to the knockout stage for the first time, following a 2-1 loss to Switzerland in Vancouver to wrap up the Group Stage with a second-place finish.
In the Round of 32, midfielder Stephen Eustáquio led Canada to a 1-0 victory over South Africa with a dramatic winner in second-half stoppage time to send them to the last 16. Their run finally came to an end with a 3-0 loss at the hands of Morocco on July 4.
Canada officially finished 14th at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ahead of soccer powerhouses including Germany, Netherlands and Croatia.
After facing Chile and Peru, Canada will take part in the CONCACAF Nations League A quarter-finals in November after receiving a bye through the September/October Group Stage.
The Nations League Finals will be held at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in March of 2027.
Canada Soccer says they are finalizing additional opportunities in the expanded September-October FIFA window.
