Niko Sigur has told his club Hajduk Split he wishes to leave the Croatian side after Toulouse in France’s Ligue 1 tabelled a substantial offer for the 22-year-old, multiple sources have told TSN.
Hajduk hasn’t yet accepted Toulouse’s offer.
On Thursday, Sigur started in Hajduk’s UEFA Europa Conference League playoff win that helped the club qualify for the group stage of a European competition for the first time since 2010.
Those close to Sigur tell TSN the Burnaby, BC native has played his last game for Hajduk after Sigur felt the club made assurances to him that he would be moving this summer.
In all, Sigur made 121 appearances for the club scoring five goals. Sigur parlayed his time in Croatia into an established spot with the Canadian men’s national team. Sigur has made 22 appearances for Canada, including three appearances at 2026 World Cup, highlighted by a start in Canada’s Round of 16 loss to Morocco.
Canadian men continue to be in-demand for European clubs.
Already this summer, forward Promise David completed a loan move to Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League, Nathan Saliba joined Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi at Villarreal, and on Thursday, Stephen Eustáquio completed a move to Swansea City in the second division English Championship.
If Sigur were to complete a move to Toulouse, he would join fellow Canadian Jacen Russell-Rowe at the club, after the forward’s move in February.
