Canadian midfielder Ali Ahmed is leaving the Vancouver Whitecaps and joining Norwich City of the English Football League on a two-year contract, according to TSN’s Matthew Scianitti.

Ahmed, 25, recorded eight assists last season in Vancouver and added a goal and three assists in five playoff games as the Whitecaps made it all the way to the MLS Cup Final.
He also helped the Whitecaps to a 2025 Canadian Championship title, winning the George Gross Memorial Trophy as MVP in the process.
The Toronto native played parts of four seasons with the Whitecaps, recording three goals and nine assists in 68 MLS games.
He joins a Norwich City squad that has a 6-6 record this season and sits 22nd in the EFL Championship.
Ahmed is a candidate to represent Canada at the 2026 World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States and is slated to be on the bench behind Villarreal’s Tajon Buchanan in TSN Soccer analyst Steven Caldwell’s most recent projected Starting XI for Canada.
