Stephen Eustáquio is heading to England.
Swansea City signed the Canadian midfielder from Porto for an undisclosed fee on Thursday.
The 29-year-old Eustáquio has signed a two-year deal as part of the move with an option for an additional year.
He joins fellow Canadian players Cyle Larin, Ali Ahmed, Jayden Nelson and Alfie Jones in the English Championship.
Eustáquio initially joined Porto on loan from Pacos de Ferreira in the winter of 2022 with Porto exercising its purchase option that summer. He made 103 league appearances for the club across the previous four seasons. Eustáquio spent the first half of the Major League Soccer season on loan with Los Angeles FC, making 10 appearances.
Eustáquio has played only two minutes in the Porto’s first three league matches this season.
“Stephen is an experienced leader who possesses great technical quality and game understanding,” head coach Vitor Matos said. “His qualities will complement the options we already have available to us in midfield, and he is an incredible professional.
“He is going to be an important player for us, on and off the pitch, and I am sure our fans are going to enjoy watching him play for Swansea City.”
Internationally, Eustáquio has been capped 61 times by Canada. He appeared in all five of Canada’s matches at this summer’s World Cup, famously scoring the winning goal in stoppage time against South Africa in the Round of 32. The goal was Eustáquio’s fourth international marker.

“Stephen suits Vitor’s football philosophy and will add quality on and off the pitch, we are excited to see him perform.”
The Swans have accrued four points from their first two Championship matches of the season.
