Jayden Nelson left the Bolton academy’s 3-1 win over Wigan on Tuesday with an apparent leg injury.
The 24-year-old Canada winger was later seen on the touchline using crutches.
A native of Toronto, Nelson was subbed off in the first half with the injury.
In his first season in the Championship, Nelson has made six appearances for the Trotters, totaling 126 minutes of game action. He has yet to start a match.
A product of the Toronto FC academy who also had Major League Soccer spells with the Vancouver Whitecaps and Austin FC, Nelson joined Bolton from the latter this past August in a move worth over £1.5 million. He signed a four-year deal with the club upon the transfer.
Internationally, Nelson has been capped 13 times by Canada since his senior debut in 2020. He has three international goals. Nelson made one appearance at this past summer’s World Cup in Canada’s 3-0 loss to Morocco in the Round of 16.
