Captain Alphonso Davies will return to the Canada squad for the first time since the World Cup as Canada meets Guatemala in a two-legged CONCACAF Nations League semi-final tie later this month.
The Bayern Munich star was one of 23 players named to Jesse Marsch’s roster on Tuesday.
There are notable absences, however, with Swansea City midfielder Stephen Eustaquio, forward Cyle Larin of Southampton and Middlesbrough’s Alfie Jones all missing out with injury.
“This is an important window for us,” Marsch said in a statement. “There’s a Nations League Finals place and a Gold Cup spot on the line, and we know how tough it will be to go to Guatemala City and get a result. We want to take care of business there, then come home to BMO Field and finish the job in front of our fans.”
Canada will play Guatemala away on Nov. 13 before playing the return leg in Toronto on Nov. 16. The Nations League Final is set for March in Los Angeles. The Nations League finalists will qualify directly to this summer’s Gold Cup, while the semi-final losers must compete in a qualifying round. Guatemala previously defeated Canada on penalties in the 2025 Gold Cup quarters.
Handed his first senior call-up in the squad is 18-year-old Feyenoord midfielder Kevin Khan. The Toronto native has yet to make his Eredivisie debut, but featured for Canada at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup and has been called into the U20 squad.
