PARIS (AP) — Defending champion Inter Milan needed two late own goals to scrape a 2-0 win at last-place Venezia in Serie A, while AC Milan’s unbeaten league run under coach Rúben Amorim ended with a 4-2 loss at home to Bologna on Wednesday.

Inter's victory moved it level on points at the top with Lazio, heading into its derby against Milan on Saturday. Lazio and Inter have the same goal difference, but Inter has scored more.

Juventus failed to take advantage of Milan’s slip when it lost 2-0 at Genoa and four-time champion Napoli won at Monza to leapfrog Juve in the standings.

Elsewhere, Ballon D’Or winner Harry Kane received a guard of honor from his Bayern Munich teammates before a German Cup game but stayed on the bench. Title holder Manchester City and Liverpool both needed penalties at home to reach the League Cup quarterfinals.

City beat Brighton following a 2-2 draw and Liverpool ousted Premier League rival Chelsea after they drew 1-1 at Anfield.

Inter leaves it late

Matías Moreno put the ball into his own net in the 80th minute and fellow defender Redouane Halhal did the same two minutes later. Venezia's defeat was its eighth in nine games.

Belgian winger Samuel Mbangula, who started his career at Juventus, grabbed a hat trick against Milan, which scored two early goals from Alphadjo Cissé.

Fifth-place Milan will have to defend better against Inter on Saturday, having led Bologna 2-1 up until the hour mark.

After Mbangula put the visitors ahead in the eighth minute, Cissé's brace put Milan up at the break. But Bartesaghi's own goal made it 2-2 and Mbangula did the rest.

Napoli was without suspended coach Massimiliano Allegri and moved level on points with Juve, but climbed above its rival and into sixth place on goal difference.

Denmark striker Rasmus Højlund, forward Matteo Politano, defender Rafa Marin, and former City standout Kevin De Bruyne each scored.

Genoa got first-half goals from defender Kingsley Ehizibue and forward Tommaso Baldanzi against Juve, which dropped to eighth spot.

Parma drew 0-0 with Udinese in a basement battle.

Guard of honor

Kane waved to the crowd as he walked onto the field at Allianz Arena for the match against second-division Magdeburg.

Bayern won 6-1 with France star Michael Olise scoring twice.

Bayer Leverkusen rallied from two goals down to beat second-tier Nürnberg 5-2 at home with defender Edmond Tapsoba netting twice.

All-Bundesliga games saw Freiburg beat Wolfsburg 3-2 thanks to a stoppage-time goal from Keisuke Goto and Germany forward Deniz Undav’s 90th-minute winner earn Stuttgart a 1-0 win at Paderborn.

Spain in mourning

The Spanish soccer federation postponed all 24 Copa del Rey games scheduled Wednesday because of a deadly train accident in central Spain.
