Best of luck for the remainder of 2025/26, Andre!
Unlike the rest of Europe, the Turkish transfer window is open until Friday.
Onana, 29, only made one appearance for United this season after picking up a hamstring injury in preseason training. Onana was in goal for the team’s disastrous loss on penalties to League Two side Grimsby Town in the second round of the League Cup. A pair of Onana gaffes directly led to both of the minnows’ goals before he stopped just one of 12 spot-kicks.
In his third season at Old Trafford after a nearly £50 million move from Inter, Onana became surplus to requirements with the arrival of former Belgium U21 ‘keeper Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. The 24-year-old Lammens will now vie with Altay Bayindir, who has started all three of the team’s Premier League matches, for the No. 1 shirt.
Onana’s spell with the Red Devils had been ignominious at times with former United midfielder Nemanja Matic calling him “one of the worst goalkeepers in the club’s history.” Of United’s nine ‘keepers over the past 20 seasons who have played more than 900 Premier League minutes, Onana had lowest save percentage at .701. But Onana did lead the team to an FA Cup triumph in 2024.
Through four Super Lig matches, Trabzonspor sits second in the table on 10 points, two back of leaders Galatasaray.
After three Premier League matches, United is ninth in the table on four points. They return to action from the international break on Sunday with a visit to 13th-place Manchester City, who could be without as many 11 first-team players.
