Villarreal’s Canadian contingent is adding another player as the LaLiga club is reportedly signing midfielder Nathan Saliba, according to soccer reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old joins Tajon Buchanan and Tani Oluwaseyi on Villarreal after all three represented Canada at the FIFA World Cup earlier this summer.
Saliba has played his club football with Anderlecht of the Belgian Pro League since June 2025, scoring five goals over 50 total appearances.
A native of Longueuil, Que., Saliba has scored three goals over 18 games for Canada’s men’s national team, including a goal at Vancouver’s BC Place during Canada’s 6-0 rout of Qatar in group stage play at the FIFA World Cup in June.
Saliba spent three seasons with CF Montreal in the MLS before heading to Europe.
Villarreal has drawn both of their games against Atletico Madrid and Racing Santander so far in the young LaLiga season.
