Celtic has their man.

Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph reports the Scottish giants are set to name Wilfried Nancy their new manager.

Nancy will reunite with Canada right-back Alistair Johnston, who he coached at CF Montreal in 2022.

Nancy, 49, spent the past four seasons at the helm of the Columbus Crew, leading them to an MLS Cup in 2023. The native of Le Havre, France was named MLS Coach of the Year in 2024.

Prior to joining the Crew, Nancy spent two seasons as manager of CFMTL, taking over from Thierry Henry in March of 2021.

Nancy had extensive coaching experience in Quebec, having initially relocated to Canada in 2025 to play at the Université du Québec à Montréal. After retiring as a player, Nancy began coaching amateur football in the province before joining the Montreal Impact academy in 2011, working his way up to the first team in 2016.

In 215 MLS matches with CFMTL and the Crew, Nancy has a record of 106-54-55.

Nancy will succeed Brendan Rodgers, who resigned from his post at the end of October. It was Rodgers’ second spell as Bhoys manager. Former Celtic boss Martin O’Neill has been serving as interim manager since Rodgers’ departure.

Celtic is coming off of a 1-0 victory over St. Mirren on Saturday. The Hoops sit second in the Premiership table on 26 points, four behind leaders Hearts, who have played one more game.

Celtic returns to action on Thursday with a visit to Feyenoord in Europa League before a trip to Edinburgh to take on third-place Hibernian on Sunday.
