Matheus Pereira is going under the knife.
Toronto FC announced Friday that the 25-year-old left-back is set to undergo surgery for a chronic groin injury.
The Brazilian is expected to miss 10 to 12 weeks.
A native of Sao Paulo, Pereira joined the Reds in December on a three-year deal. A product of the Cruzeiro academy, Pereira spent the past two seasons with Portuguese side Santa Clara. Over his time in the Primeira Liga, Pereira made 28 appearances.
Pereira has made two appearances for TFC this season, totalling 120 minutes.
Toronto FC currently sits in sixth place in the Eastern Conference with 16 points through nine matches. The team puts its undefeated run of seven matches on the line on Saturday with a visit from moribund Atlanta United at BMO Field.
