TFC’s Laryea out a month with thigh issue, no concern about World Cup availability

Published:

Toronto FC defender Richie Laryea is expected to miss a month with a thigh issue, according to general manager Jason Hernandez.

However, there is no concern the injury will effect Laryea’s availability to play for Canada at this summer’s FIFA World Cup as Hernandez hopes to see Laryea play for TFC before the international tournament begins in June.

Laryea started and played all 90 minutes in Wednesday’s 3-3 draw with the Union at BMO Field, but missed Toronto’s 2-1 home loss to visiting Atlanta United on Saturday.

The Toronto native has played in nine games this season for Toronto FC and has two goals and two assists over 810 minutes.

Laryea has made 73 appearances for the Canadian national men’s soccer team, including starts in both March window international friendlies against Iceland and Tunisia.
