Igor Tudor’s time with the Bianconeri is over.
Juventus sacked its manager on Monday on the heels of a 1-0 defeat to Lazio that left the Old Lady eighth in the table and winless in eight matches across all competitions.
“The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers,” the team said in a statement.
Academy manager Massimo Brambilla will be in charge of the club for its Wednesday match with Udinese.
The firing is of keen interest to Canadian fans with Ottawa’s Jonathan David having joined the club on a free transfer from Lille in the summer. The 25-year-old forward has one goal in seven league matches this season and has averaged just under 57 minutes of playing time per match.
Tudor, 47, was brought on as manager last spring after the firing of Thiago Motta. A former Croatia defender, Tudor became the first non-Italian gaffer of the club in nearly 20 years. As a player, Tudor spent eight seasons with Juve and won a pair of Scudetti. He also previously managed at Lazio, Marseille, Udinese and Galatasaray over his decade-plus coaching career.
Former Italy, Napoli and Inter manager Luciano Spalletti and ex-Italy, Inter and Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini have already been attached to the vacancy.
Juve currently trails fourth-place Inter by three points for the final Champions League spot and league leaders Napoli by six points.
