Villarreal released an update on the status of Tajon Buchanan on Friday.
The 27-year-old winger left Canada camp ahead of the team’s final friendly of the international window against the United States after taking a hard tackle in Saturday’s 2-0 win over Peru.
The team says the Brampton, Ont. native incurred a muscular injury to the biceps femoris of his right leg. No timetable for his return was given with the team noting it depended on his recovery.
Buchanan is in his third season with the Yellow Submarine, arriving from Inter following a successful loan spell in the first half of 2025. He has appeared in seven games this season.
Ninth-place Villarreal returns from the international break on Saturday with a visit to fourth-place Real Madrid.
