Kwasi Poku is back in North America.
The Vancouver Whitecaps announced the signing of the Canadian forward from Belgium’s RWDM Brussels. The 23-year-old Brampton, Ont. native joins the team on a deal through the 2027-2028 season with a club option for 2028-2029.
“We are excited to welcome Kwasi to our group,” Whitecaps director Axel Schuster said in a statement. “Kwasi is a young, talented Canadian international who brings pace, intelligent movement, and finishing ability to our attack. He has the qualities and mindset to continue his development, and we are excited to help him take the next step in his career while strengthening our team.”
A product of the Toronto FC academy, Poku joined the Belgian side from Forge FC of the Canadian Premier League. He made 73 appearances across all competitions with Forge over three seasons, winning two CPL titles. In his two seasons in Belgium, Poku had five league goals in 28 matches.
Internationally, Poku represented Canada at the U20 level and played in the CONCACAF championship in 2022. Poku made his lone senior appearance to date for Canada in a 2024 friendly with Panama.
The deal for Poku is pending the receipt of his international transfer certificate.
