Brazil faces Norway; England, Mexico clash in Round of 16 on TSN

There are two big-time Round of 16 knockout matchups on Sunday, with Brazil first facing Norway before England and co-host Mexico clash, all on TSN.

Brazil vs. Norway

The first matchup of the day is Brazil vs. Norway from New York New Jersey Stadium, a rematch from nearly three decades ago.

Watch Brazil vs. Norway LIVE at 4:00 p.m. ET/ 1:00 p.m. PT on TSN1/3/4, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

During the 1998 World Cup, Norway took down Brazil in a stunning upset that was arguably the biggest victory in men’s soccer in the Scandinavian country’s history.

That game was in the group stage, with nothing for the then-defending champion Brazil side to play for. Now, a spot in the quarter-finals is on the line, with some of the world’s biggest stars on either side.

Brazil boasts Vinícius Júnior, as he and Manchester United man Matheus Cunha have combined for seven goals through four games thus far.

For Norway, standout striker Erling Haaland has five goals at the FIFA World Cup, 25 in his past 14 competitive international matches, and 60 in 53 with the national team.

His next challenge is trying to shake Brazil’s back-line duo of Gabriel and Marquinhos.

Mexico vs. England

Finishing off the day will be co-host Mexico battling with England, as the home team will look to reach the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals for the first time in 40 years.

Watch Mexico vs. England LIVE at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT on TSN1/4, TSN.ca, and the TSN App.

Since last reaching the quarter-finals in 1986, Mexico has been bounced out of the Round of 16 seven times. Now hoping to break through at the Estadio Azteca, it’s England standing in Mexico’s way.

England will try to make the quarter-finals of the World Cup for the third straight time, and they are led by striker Harry Kane.

After trailing for the opening 75 minutes of its Round of 32 match against Congo on Wednesday, England’s all-time leading scorer in the World Cup took over.

The 6-foot-2 forward scored two late goals to earn a 2-1 win and send England to the Round of 16 and into this matchup, and will be the main man “El Tri” will try to slow down.
