Cyle Larin’s stay in England will continue.

Southampton announced Friday that the Canada forward’s loan from Mallorca had been converted into a permanent transfer.

Larin, 31, made 16 Championship appearances for Saints after his January move and scored eight times. Southampton reached the Championship playoff final, but were expelled by the Football League after admitting to illegal spying on opposing teams.

The Brampton, Ont. native joins on a two-year deal plus an option.

“I’m just very happy to be back,” Larin said in a statement. “From the first day I came into Southampton I was very welcomed by the staff, the players, and then just how it started, to score on my first touch, I think it helped very much.I just connected well with the team and the staff and we just had a great season, and I really felt I wanted to continue.”

A product of UConn, Larin previously spent time at Orlando City, Besiktas, Club Brugge, Valladolid and Feyenoord.

Internationally, Larin has 30 goals in 89 Canada appearances and will be a member of the squad at next week’s FIFA World Cup.
