Some of soccer’s biggest stars will be featured on Tuesday as the FIFA World Cup continues with a full slate of action.
Here’s a rundown of what you can expect.
France vs. Senegal

Group I - New York, New Jersey Stadium
3pm ET/12pm PT on TSN1/3/4, TSN.ca and TSN App
France’s 2026 FIFA World Cup begins on Tuesday as they look for redemption following a heartbreaking loss in the World Cup final against Argentina four years ago in Qatar in the one of the greatest games of all-time.
Despite a superb performance from Kylian Mbappe, highlighted by goals in the 80th, 81st and 118th minute, the French fell to Lionel Messi and the Argentineans 4-2 on penalties, missing out on a third - and second consecutive - World Cup title.
Now 27, Mbappe remains one of the best players on the planet after scoring 42 goals in 44 games with Real Madrid in 2025-26.
France, ranked second in the world behind Argentina, will be the favourites against Senegal, but will surely have their hands full against the African powerhouse in their Group I opener.
No. 16th in the world, Senegal is the second highest-ranked African team at the World Cup behind No. 7 Morocco.
Senegal will compete in their third straight World Cup after finishing in the Round of 16 in Qatar. Their best finish came in 2002, when they made the quarter-final in the same tournament where they upset France 1-0 in the group stage.
The face of soccer in Senegal is winger Sadio Mané. The 34-year-old veteran scored 14 goals in the Saudi Pro League this season and has 55 goals in 128 career appearances with the national team.
Iraq vs. Norway

Group I - Boston Stadium
6pm ET/3pm PT across the TSN Network, TSN.ca and the TSN App
With the FIFA World Cup expanding to 48 teams, nations like Norway were able to qualify, giving superstar Erling Haaland an opportunity to play on the biggest stage in the sport.
The 25-year-old has been an elite goal-scorer during his four years with Manchester City, scoring 162 goals over 198 games. He also has 55 goals in 50 games with Norway dating back to 2019.
Norway, ranked 31st in the world, has been to three previous World Cups, most recently in 1998 when they made the Round of 16.
They’ll be the favourites against world No. 57 Iraq in their Group I opener and will be desperate for three points with matches against France and Senegal left on their group-stage schedule.
This is Iraq’s second World Cup appearance since 1986 when they made their debut at the event.
Argentina vs. Algeria

Group J - Kansas City Stadium
9pm ET/6pm PT across the TSN Network, TSN.ca and the TSN App
Lionel Messi takes centre stage Tuesday evening in what will his be his sixth - and potentially final - World Cup appearance.
The 38-year-old forward leads Argentina’s title defence after winning their third World Cup in Qatar in 2022, edging France in a dramatic, thrilling final.
Messi, who has 13 goals in 26 career World Cup games, scored twice in the final four years ago.
Playing for Inter Miami of Major League Soccer, Messi has 13 goals in 16 games this season. He has a total of 117 goals in 138 appearances for Argentina.
Messi also led Argentina to the 2014 World Cup final where they lost Germany.
Holding down the top spot in the world rankings, Argentina will be favourites against Algeria in their Group J opener on Tuesday.
No. 27 Algeria have been to three previous World Cups, reaching the Round of 16 in 2014 in their last showing.
Austria vs. Jordan

Group J - San Francisco Bay Area Stadium
12am ET/9pm PT on TSN1/3/4, TSN.ca and the TSN App
Austria and Jordan close out a long day of action with a late-night clash in San Francisco.
No. 24 Austria is led by captain David Alaba, who has spent the past five seasons with Spanish heavyweight Real Madrid, and 37-year-old forward Marko Arnautović, the country’s all-time leading scorer with 47 goals in 133 appearances.
Marcel Sabitzer, 32, will also be key for the Austrians as the Borussia Dortmund midfielder has 26 goals in 98 appearances for the national team.
Austria is making its first FIFA World Cup appearance since 1998. The Central European nation has made some impressive runs during their history at the tournament, finishing fourth in 1934, third in 1954 and making the quarter-final stage in 1978.
Jordan is one of the lowest-ranked teams at this year’s FIFA World Cup, ranked 65th. This will be Jordan’s first appearance at the World Cup.
