SANTIAGO DE CALI — Canada’s Bianca Andreescu lost 7-6 (4), 6-3 to Spain’s Leyre Romero Gormaz in the women’s singles tennis final at the Cali Open on Saturday.

The Mississauga, Ont., native converted on four of her 11 break-point chances but allowed the Spaniard to go 6 for 10.

It was a quick turnaround for Andreescu who finished out a 6-0, 6-4 win over France’s Alice Tubello in the semifinals earlier in the day.

Their match was mostly played Friday before a thunderstorm became cause for delay.

Andreescu led 6-0, 5-4 at the time of the stoppage.

She broke on five of her 11 opportunities in the match and had two aces without a double fault.
