Storm forward Magbegor tears ACL in Australia’s FIBA World Cup win over Italy

Published:

BERLIN (AP) — Australia forward Ezi Magbegor suffered a torn ACL in her right knee on Wednesday in a victory over Italy in the women’s FIBA World Cup.

Magbegor went down midway through the first quarter and had to be helped back to the locker room. She came out and sat on the bench in the second quarter, but didn’t return to the game. Australia played Spain on Thursday night in the quarterfinals and were also missing Alanna Smith, who reaggravated a leg injury in the first game of the tournament.

It’s been a rough season for Magbegor, who only played in 14 games for the Seattle Storm after missing time with a foot injury and facial fracture.

With the worst record in the WNBA at 8-32, Seattle is all but officially eliminated from a spot in the playoffs.
