Tempo’s Rice diagnosed with Grade 2 ankle sprain, no timetable for return

Published:

Toronto Tempo rookie guard Kiki Rice suffered a Grade 2 ankle sprain in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s game against the New York Liberty, the team announced on Thursday.

Rice will be re-evaluated in the coming days and the team says it will share a timeline on her return to play at a later date.

The 22-year-old was injured in the last two minutes of the Tempo’s 97-82 loss to the Liberty as she drove to the net and fell to the court holding her left ankle.

Rice was helped up by teammates and a member of the training staff before hobbling to the locker room.

She had nine points and five rebounds in the game before exiting.

The San Francisco native is averaging 12.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists so far this season for the Tempo.
