Canadian juniors select Courage by Tragically Hip as WJC goal song

Published:

Courage by The Tragically Hip will serve as Team Canada’s goal song for the 2026 World Junior Championship.

The team’s choice was revealed Wednesday when the team scored 39 seconds into the second period of their pre-tournament win over Sweden. It would play again in the third period as Brady Martin scored his second of the game to secure a 2-1 win in Canada’s first of three exhibition games.

Canada will be hoping to hear the song early and often once the World Juniors get underway, with their first game set for 8:30 p.m. ET/5:30 p.m. PT on Boxing Day. Canada will play their second game of the tournament against Latvia on Dec. 27, then face Denmark on Dec. 29 and wrap up their round-robin schedule on Dec. 31 against Finland.

The 2026 tournament represents a chance for Canada to get back on the podium after exiting in the quarter-finals in each of the past two years. Canada has missed the podium three straight years just once in the history of the tournament, from 1979-81.

Canada will face Sweden once again in pre-tournament action Saturday on TSN.
