Eleven-time World Champion and current AEW World Tag Team Champion Adam Copeland will make his MAPLE LEAF PRO Wrestling debut at MLP NORTHERN RISING, taking place on Saturday, October 3 at Toronto Metropolitan University’s Mattamy Athletic Centre, the legendary venue formerly known as Maple Leaf Gardens.
The news was revealed by Copeland himself during the latest episode of the weekly series MLP Mayhem on TSN2.
Copeland, one of the most accomplished pro wrestlers ever to come out of Canada, was born and raised in Orangeville, Ontario, just northwest of Toronto.
While his 34-year Hall of Fame career has taken him to multiple storied venues around the world, this will be Copeland’s first time competing in the arena where he saw his first wrestling show.
“Growing up, between watching Maple Leaf Wrestling and watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, I feel like the majority of my television watching as a child came out of Maple Leaf Gardens,” Copeland said.
“The fact that MAPLE LEAF PRO Wrestling is alive, and bringing history back to professional wrestling in Canada...it’ll be a special night. How am I not going to be a part of that?”
“Adam Copeland is one of the greatest Canadian wrestlers of all time,” said Scott D’Amore, president of MAPLE LEAF PRO Wrestling. “Seeing him return to the former Maple Leaf Gardens, where his journey began as a fan, is exactly the kind of special moment MAPLE LEAF PRO is committed to creating.”
Adam Copeland will share more in the coming weeks through a series of vignettes featured on upcoming episodes of MLP Mayhem (TSN2, MyAEW, Fight Nation).
