Last week: We had three winning tickets from our picks for the Truist Championship. Tommy Fleetwood for a top 10 at +175 and both our extra picks were winners too with Fleetwood beating Ludvig Aberg over 72 holes (+110) and the overall score being under 273.5 (+110).

This week: The PGA Championship, the year’s second major, is set to go at Aronomink Golf Club just outside of Philadelphia. The course is an old-school, Donald Ross design which is notable for its massive greens that average 8,200 square feet. So, hitting greens is one thing but proximity is more important. The rough is also up and can be a factor with some nasty lies possible.

To win

Scottie Scheffler +480

Coming in off a week at home and also three consecutive second-place finishes, this course seems to suit his game. Of course, most courses seem to suit his game or he finds a way to make it suit him. Hard not to go with the world’s top player.

Cam Young +1200

A player who has found winning ways this year with a big victory at the Players and another at the Cadillac Championship. He ranks 10th in Proximity, which should be favourable on these massive greens.

Top 10

Ludvig Aberg +165

We’ve been hopeful that Aberg can find a way to finish all 72 holes, as he’s been in the hunt in several tournaments of late, only to lose his grip on Sunday. Still, he is third in Strokes Gained: Total and fifth in Proximity. He might finally be able to get it across the finish line.

Matt Fitzpatrick +200

Perhaps the hottest player coming into this week, Fitzpatrick has three wins so far and shows no signs of slowing down. Another major to his career list of achievements would not be a surprise to many. He’s fifth in Strokes Gained: Total which is also not a surprise.

Top 20

Justin Rose +185

Might be a bit of a risky pick as Rose adjusts to his new clubs, but he did finish second in the BMW Championship when it was played here in 2018. He won at the Farmers and finished third at the Masters, not bad for an older guy. Eighth in Greens in Regulation.

Rickie Fowler +185

Having a sneaky-good year with top-10 finishes in his last three starts. Also happens to be one of the tour’s best putters which should help him on the big and hilly greens at Aronomink.

Extras

Scheffler, McIlroy, Young and Fleetwood all to make the cut -130

None of these guys has missed a cut this year.

Tommy Fleetwood +200 to shoot lower than Scottie Scheffler in first round

Fleetwood, as Scheffler is 77th in Round 1 scoring.
