MLB Home Run Ladder Challenge
April showers bring May Flowers
I simply have to be better.
After Bobby Witt Jr. and Vladimir Guerrerro Jr. combined for five hits on Wednesday I went right back to them for Thursday, hoping I was a day late.
Wrong.
The two players didn’t only fail to hit home runs, they both went hitless. Serves me right for getting lazy with my process just two days into the second leg of this challenge.
But today I had two superstars, due for some postive home run *regression*, fall into my lap - so let’s get to why I’ve circled Ronald Acuna Jr. and Juan Soto to hit home runs Friday night.
Earlier we looked at the daily home run projection on BallPark Pal, now I want to show you a tweet that crossed my desk earlier this morning.
According to Ballpark Pal, Acuna Jr. has had the most home runs taken away by stadium and weather effects this season.
Tonight, Acuna Jr. and the Atlanta Braves begin a series against the Colorado Rockies at the most hitter-friendly park in MLB, Coors Field.
Meanwhile, despite Juan Soto missing 15 games this season with a calf strain, he sits fourth on the list of unluckiest hitters this season.
The Mets open a three-game set against the Los Angeles Angels tonight on the west coast, something that should give Soto a better chance to hit home runs after a homestand during a bad weather week in New York.
