MLB Home run challenge: Save me Elly

It was another night without a home run for yours truly in this challenge as Shohei Ohtani came up short Monday night.

Ohtani had three hits, including a ground-rule double in the ninth inning, which is a good night for him, but another night of losing for us.

With four days left to pick a winner, I am turning to one of my favourite players in the league, Elly De La Cruz.

As we’ve already touched on, the Reds’ game tonight projects to have the most home runs hit based on park factors and De La Cruz already has nine home runs on the year.

The switch hitter currently sits 13th in the MLB with a hard hit rate of 55.8 per cent and he’s fifth-best in the league when looking at the hardest 50 per cent of his batted balls.

The 24-year-old enters Tuesday with at least one hit in eight of his last nine games, with three home runs during that stretch.
