Who wouldn’t want to travel to Miami in November?
Bills Mafia rolled into South Florida on Sunday with the sun shining, palm trees waving, and an easy win over the AFC East rival Miami Dolphins already penciled in.
At least the weather didn’t disappoint.
The Miami Dolphins beat the Buffalo Bills 30-13 in their largest upset of the Mike McDaniel era.
De’Von Achane exploded for 225 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns and the Dolphins stunned the Bills as a +350 moneyline underdog at FanDuel.
Buffalo, which closed -8.5, was shut out through three quarters for just the third time in the Josh Allen era.
The Bills fell to 1-5 in their last six games as a favourite.
This wasn’t a close loss that went down to the wire.
It was a complete beatdown from the opening kick-off, mirroring the team’s Week 6 road trip to Georgia when the Atlanta Falcons beat up Buffalo in a 24-14 win.
Allen is one of the best quarterbacks on the planet.
The problem is that when Allen doesn’t perform at an MVP level and James Cook is banged up, everything looks so difficult for the Bills, regardless of their opponent.
It was tough to listen to Allen’s reaction after the game.
As if Sunday’s loss wasn’t rough enough, Bills Mafia had to sit through the pain at Hard Rock Stadium while fans of the rival New England Patriots enjoyed their trip to Tampa, just four hours away at Raymond James Stadium.
Drake Maye threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns as the Patriots upset the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 28-23 as a 2.5-point underdog.
New England, which was a popular pick to finish second in the AFC East at FanDuel, improved to 5-0 on the road and 8-2 overall – tied with the Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos for the best record in the NFL.
The Patriots opened a 1.5-game lead on the Bills at the top of the AFC East standings.
Maye also leapfrogged Allen to become a co-favourite to win NFL regular season MVP at FanDuel.
Meanwhile, Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford has joined the MVP conversation following one of the most impressive stretches of his career, while Colts running back Jonthan Taylor has emerged as a top three choice.

Maye, Stafford Emerge as MVP Co-Favourites at FanDuel
I’ll never forget when Bills Mafia celebrated Tom Brady’s decision to leave the Patriots for the Buccaneers.
After nearly two decades of dominance, Brady’s exit and Allen’s arrival signalled a changing of the guard atop the AFC East division.
The Bills took advantage with five straight AFC East titles, while the Patriots shuffled through Cam Newton, Mac Jones, Bailey Zappe, Brian Hoyer, and Jacoby Brissett as they fumbled their way through replacing Brady.
New England bottomed out with a 4-13 record in 2023.
The Patriots went on to use the third overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft to select Maye.
The decision to replace the legendary Bill Belichick with Jerod Mayo didn’t work out for New England.
Fortunately, after another 4-13 season, the Patriots turned ack the clock and hired Mike Vrabel as head coach.
10 games into the Vrabel era, it appears they made the right decision.
Vrabel is the favourite to win AP NFL Coach of the Year at +125 at FanDuel.
At 8-2, the Patriots are already one win away from clinching their regular season win total (8.5).
Maye has emerged as an MVP co-favourite at +300.
He was +8000 to win that award entering Week 1.
New England has won seven straight games, including a 23-20 win in Buffalo back in Week 5.
Maye is the first Patriots QB to win at least eight of his first 10 games in a season since Brady in 2019.
He’s already thrown for 2,555 yards with 19 touchdown passes and just five interceptions, while ranking among the top six QBs in the NFL in QB rating and passer rating.
At 8-2, New England has already matched its win total from the previous two seasons combined (8-26).
Meanwhile, Stafford has emerged as an MVP co-favourite after becoming the first quarterback in NFL history to throw four touchdown passes and zero interception in three straight games.
Stafford is also the first quarterback in NFL history to throw 20 touchdown passes and zero picks over a six-game span within a season.
The 37-year-old Stafford has the Los Angeles Rams in a tie for the NFC’s best record at 7-2 with the division rival Seattle Seahawks.
The Rams are set to host the Seahawks next Sunday.
Finally, it’s impossible to ignore what Jonathan Taylor has done to lead the Colts to an 8-2 record.
Taylor had 32 carries for 244 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns in Sunday’s 31-25 overtime win against the Atlanta Falcons.
His 83-yard touchdown run in the third quarter of that victory was the longest rushing TD in franchise history.
He also passed Edgerrin James for the most rushing scores in franchise history with 66 on Sunday.
Taylor is an obvious favourite to win AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year at -350 at FanDuel.
He’s also now the third choice to win MVP at +500.
While I believe the MVP will ultimately go to a QB, it’s impossible to ignore the impact that Taylor has had helping to turn things around in Indianapolis.
A few weeks ago, Patrick Mahomes, Allen, and Baker Mayfield were considered among the top MVP candidates.
Now it’s Maye, Stafford, and Taylor as the top three.
