Morning Coffee: Setting the stage for NHL Frozen Frenzy

Published:

Did anybody play over 17.5 innings in Game 3 of the World Series on their Sports Equinox Parlay?

Full disclosure, I was ready to call it a night after the Monday Night Football game ended.

The baseball game kept me up another four hours.

Perennial World Series hero Freddie Freeman hit the solo home run that propelled the Los Angeles Dodgers to the 2-1 win and ended the marathon in the 18th inning.

The game lasted a full six hours and 39 minutes, making it the second-longest playoff game in MLB history.

With the victory, the Dodgers to win the World Series shifted from -240 to -500 at FanDuel.

That current number carries an 83.3 per cent implied probability that LA goes on to win it all.

Neither club can afford a let up with Shane Bieber set to get the start in Game 4 tonight opposite Shohei Ohtani.

The Dodgers are a -210 moneyline favourite for Game 4.

Toronto is +176 to pull off the upset in Game 4 and +385 to win the World Series.

The bad news is Blue Jays fans had to stay up all night to watch a game that ended in disappointment.

The good news is that they won’t have to wait long for their shot at redemption tonight.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Chiefs continued their march towards an AFC West title with another dominant victory over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.

If you tailed my FanDuel Best Bets, then you went 3-1 last night as we finished a wild Week 8 in the NFL on a high note with an 8-1 run.

Hopefully, we can keep it going in Week 9, with the Chiefs set to face the Buffalo Bills in one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the NFL season.

In the meantime, we’ve got Game 4 of the World Series, five NBA games, plus all 32 NHL teams are in action as the NHL’s Frozen Frenzy returns.

We’re all going to need a lot more coffee this morning.

Let’s set the stage for another busy night in sports with a few bets for the NHL Frozen Frenzy in this Morning Coffee for Tuesday October 28th, 2025.

All 32 NHL Teams In Action For NHL Frozen Frenzy

The Frozen Frenzy is the sixth time that all 32 NHL teams will be playing on the same day.

While it wasn’t called the “Frozen Frenzy” the first time all 32 NHL teams played on the same day this season, we saw a ton of offence with an average of 6.9 goals per game on the first Saturday of the season on October 11th.

The 110 total goals were the second-most scored on a single day in NHL history.

Over bettors are hoping for a similar result tonight.

Six players have recorded at least one point in each of the five previous instances that there were 16 NHL games on the same day.

That short list features Leon Draisaitl, Brayden Point, Brandon Hagel, Jesper Bratt, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Jared McCann.

McCann is the only player to score a goal in each of the previous five times all 32 NHL teams were in action.

The Seattle Kraken forward is on the IR with a lower-body injury.

In case you’re wondering, an SGP+ with Draisaitl, Point, Hagel, Bratt, and Tarasenko to each record one or more points could be found at +1000 at FanDuel this morning.

As for some of my favourite bets for tonight’s Frozen Frenzy, I’ll start with John Tavares to continue to put pucks on net for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a win over the Calgary Flames.

Tavares turned 35 in September, but he’s averaged an impressive 1.33 points per game through Toronto’s first nine games of the season.

He’s scored four goals in his previous four games, tying Auston Matthews for the team lead with five each.

Tavares has registered 15 shots in his previous four games, registering two or more in all four outings.

In two meetings against the Flames last season, Tavares averaged 3.0 shots on goal.

Tavares is sitting on 499 career goals.

He has a chance to join Mats Sundin as the second player in franchise history to score his 500th career NHL goal with the Maple Leafs.

Tavares anytime goal is +170 at FanDuel.

While I’ll sprinkle on his goal prop, I’ll take Tavares 2+ shots on goal and Toronto to win at -113 as a FanDuel Best Bet to kick off tonight’s Frozen Frenzy.

I’ll also play a builder SGP with Point and Jake Guentzel to both record 1+ point at -110 as the Tampa Bay Lightning visit the Nashville Predators tonight.

After a slow start, the Lightning have pieced together back-to-back wins thanks in large part to a top line that features Point, Guentzel, and Nikita Kucherov.

I’ll roll the dice on Point and Guentzel to combine for a point in Nashville.

I’ll also lock in a builder SGP with Jesper Bratt to record 1+ point, 1+ shot on goal, and Nathan MacKinnon to record 2+ shots on goal at +100 odds.

In case you missed it, I played Bratt to record 30+ goals this season at +390 at FanDuel on NHL Futures Day.

The 27-year-old New Jersey Devils winger has four goals in nine games, a 36-goal pace over a full 82-game season.

He’s also averaged over a point per game (1.17) despite failing to record a point in Sunday’s win over the Colorado Avalanche.

He did register three shots on goal in the victory.

MacKinnon led the Avalanche with four shots on goal.

After being held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games, I’ll bank on a bounce back from Bratt in Colorado.

The Carolina Hurricanes host the Vegas Golden Knights.

Seth Jarvis has averaged a ridiculous 1.38 points per game this season and I’ll bank that hot streak to continue on home ice.

I’ll played another builder SGP with Jarvis to record 1+ point, 2+ shots on goal, and Jack Eichel to record 2+ shots on goal at +115.

I’ll also take J.J. Peterka to record 1+ point at +112 for the Utah Mammoth skating on a line that features Logan Cooley and Dylan Guenther against the Edmonton Oilers.

Peterka has registered five points in his last three games and is up to nine points in 10 games this season.

He’s worth a flyer at plus-money against Edmonton.

Finally, give me Adrian Kempe to record 1+ point and the Los Angeles Kings to beat the San Jose Sharks at -120.

Kempe is sitting on 199 career NHL goals.

The Sharks have given up an NHL-worst 4.6 goals per game this season.

I played Kempe anytime goal at +140.

For a best bet, I’ll go with Kempe 1+ point and the Kings to win outright at -120.

Hopefully, we can celebrate this year’s Frozen Frenzy with a sweep of the full bet card.
