Montreal Alouettes quarterback Davis Alexander was pulled from his start in the team’s preseason opener against the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday after just two series, but TSN’s Farhan Lalji reports that it was for precautionary reasons and is expected to be ready for Week 1.
I’m told this was all precautionary. Alexander is expected to be ready for week 1. #AlsMtl @CFLonTSN @TSN_Sports https://t.co/W5dOx6Xw2p

Alexander got the start and played the first quarter before he was relieved by Dustin Crum under centre for the beginning of the second. Alexander completed all of his passing attempts for 17 yards in limited action.
The 27-year-old Alexander played in just seven games last season after missing significant time with a hamstring injury that he suffered in Week 3 and re-aggravated in Week 7. The team went a dazzling 6-1 in games which Alexander started in 2025, and he completed 158-of-218 passes for 2,024 yards and 10 touchdowns against just three interceptions.
Alexander was able to play in the playoffs and led the Alouettes to the Grey Cup, where they fell to the Saskatchewan Roughriders. The fifth-year QB threw three interceptions in the loss.
The Alouettes kicked off their preseason schedule with a 27-12 defeat at the hands of the Redblacks, and will play one more preseason contest against Ottawa on May 29 before they kick off their regular season with a trip to Hamilton to take on the Tiger-Cats on June 4.
