Toronto Argonauts QB Chad Kelly has been ruled out against the Ottawa Redblacks with a lower body injury, according to TSN’s Aaron Korolnek.
Kelly suffered the injury early in the first quarter after a scramble ended in a tackle by Redblacks defensive lineman Luigi Vilain. Kelly came up hobbling before taking a knee, but was able to walk off under his own power.
Veteran and 2024 Grey Cup MVP Nick Arbuckle has taken over Toronto’s offence.
Kelly was a late scratch for the team’s 24-17 loss to the BC Lions in Week 18 with a hand injury. TSN’s Dave Naylor reported that the team had expected Kelly to be ready for the game, but had to pivot late in the week and go with the backup Arbuckle.
Kelly is third in the CFL with 5,067 yards passing through 15 games on the season - already a career high - with 33 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. He’s thrown for multiple touchdowns in six consecutive contests, and has exceeded 400 yards passing in four separate games this year.
