The Toronto Argonauts have made a pair of signings, inking deals with Canadian linebacker Jordan Herdman-Reed and American running back Cam Porter, the team announced Thursday.
Herdman-Reed, 32, was with Toronto at training camp this past spring before being cut in May.
The Winnipeg native appeared in seven games for the Double Blue during the 2025 season, recording five special teams tackles after debuting in Week 9 last year.
The 6-foot, 235-pound Herdman-Reed has previously spent time with the Sasktachewan Roughriders, Calgary Stampeders, and BC Lions after they selected him in the seventh round of the 2017 CFL draft.
For his career, the Simon Fraser product has recorded 169 total tackles, three sacks, one forced fumble, and three fumble recoveries in 105 games played over eight seasons.
Porter is coming off of five seasons with the Northwestern Wildcats of the Big Ten, where he racked up 1,908 yards and 18 touchdowns on 478 carries, also adding another 425 yards and a score through the air.
The Cincinnati native had his senior season cut short with a torn ACL in Week 2 of the 2025 NCAA season, but returned in time to participate in Northwestern’s Pro Day in late March.
He would go undrafted in the 2026 NFL Draft, and now heads north of the border to join the Argonauts as they continue their push for the playoffs after Labour Day.
Toronto (6-6) holds the second spot in the East Division as they take on the winless Ottawa Redblacks to open Week 15 on Saturday.
