The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will be turning to quarterback Harrison Frost for the team’s Week 16 matchup against the Montreal Alouettes, according to head coach Scott Milanovich.
It marks the third start of the season for the 27-year-old arm who holds a 1-1 record as a starter in 2026.
Frost entered Hamilton’s Labour Day Classic matchup against the Toronto Argonauts after Canadian Tre Ford exited with a head injury. The pivot completed 16-of-28 passes for 218 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception in the 37-22 loss.
On the season, Frost has completed 58.8 per cent of his passes for 734 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
Milanovich also added that Ford is cleared to play. The 28-year-old was assessed for a concussion on the sidelines of the team’s Week 14 contest after seemingly hitting his head on the turf following a touchdown run. When Ford went to the locker room at half time, he had some “complications” Milanovich said to TSN’s Matthew Scianitti, and the team elected to remove him from the game.
In 2026, Ford has completed 63.9 per cent of his passes for 1,293 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The Niagara Falls, Ont. native has also recorded 419 rushing yards on 38 attempts (11.0 yards per carry).
The move also comes after Milanovich ruled Week 1 starter and back-to-back Most Outstanding Player runner-up Bo Levi Mitchell out for the season.
“I believe it is, I think I’ve made that fairly clear five times,” said Milanovich on whether Mitchell’s season was over.
“It was a nine-month injury. He’s doing great; I think he’s probably ahead of schedule. I wouldn’t say no [to Mitchell playing in the playoffs], but realistically, we wouldn’t want to put him out there and danger him. He’s moving around a little bit now, but it’s not on my radar at this point right now.”
