The Saskatchewan Roughriders’ receiving corps took a hit on Friday with Samuel Emilus placed on the six-game injured list.

Emilus, 28, picked up the injury during the team’s 30-16 loss to the BC Lions on Sunday. The Montreal native exited in the fourth quarter with what the team called a leg injury.

Emilus is in his fifth CFL season out of Louisiana Tech. In seven games this season, he’s hauled in 38 receptions on 53 targets for 514 yards and five touchdowns. This will be the second spell on the sidelines this season for Emilus, who previously missed three games with a foot injury.

A CFL West All-Star in 2024, Emilus had back-to-back 1,000-yard-plus receiving seasons in 2023 and 2024. He was named the Most Valuable Canadian in last fall’s Grey Cup, hauling in 10 receptions for 108 yards as the Riders defeated the Montreal Alouettes 25-17.

The Riders (6-4), losers of two straight, sit second in the West, 1.5 games behind the Lions (8-3). They return to action on Saturday night with a visit from the Toronto Argonauts (5-5).
