The Calgary Stampeders will be without quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. as the team takes on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday.
Adams Jr. was placed on Calgary’s reserve roster on Friday, leaving Josh Love set to make his first career start this week.
Adams Jr. was injured in the Stampeders’ 30-26 loss to the BC Lions on Aug. 13.
Adams hit his head against the turf after being tackled on a six-yard rush and was escorted off the field by Calgary’s training staff. He would be taken to the medical tent after getting back to the sideline, and did not return to the game.
Adams completed 13-of-23 passing attempts for 148 yards and a touchdown before departing.
Love would enter into the game, completing six passes for 58 yards and an interception.
The 29-year-old Love spent four seasons at San Jose State University, throwing for 3,923 yards with 22 touchdowns to eight interceptions as a senior in 2019. He spent three seasons in the USFL before joining the Stampeders in 2025.
The Stampeders (4-6) are fighting to keep pace in the West Division playoff race, currently one game behind the 5-5 Lions and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
